Science - Life Cycles 2021

This term in Science, Year One have been observing the life cycle of a butterfly. We have followed the journey of five tiny caterpillars – their munching of lots of food to help them grow into very long and fat caterpillars. The children have been learning about caterpillars shedding their skin, and that they make a silk button to help them hang downwards when they are inside their chrysalis. Year One have been very patient waiting for the butterflies to emerge from their chrysalis, but we were all amazed to be able to watch this process first hand. Once the butterflies had dried their wings, we enjoyed being able to release them in our school playing field.
