Clubs and Activities
Early Birds and Dawdlers Club
Broughton Primary School offers daily before and after school provision to its pupils.
- The 'Earlybirds' session runs from 7:45am to 8:45am.
- The 'Dawdlers' session runs from 3:15pm to 4:30pm.
The children have the opportunity to catch up on homework, play on the computers, play board games and play outside on the playground / field (in good weather).
It's a wonderful chance for all the children to play together, from Reception to Year 6. Each session costs just £3.50.
Football
Broughton Primary’s football team take part in a number of events throughout the year. They compete in friendly matches against local schools along with football competitions held at a variety of venues and finishing the year off with the Broughton Football Tournament which is held at our school in the Summer Term. A football club is run before school on Thursdays for Key Stage 1 and 2, and the school football team have practice during lunch periods in the summer term.
Hotshots
Children in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 are invited to join the Hotshots club, which runs on a Friday afternoon, 3.20pm - 4.15pm, here at the school. The Hotshots Basketball club is a unique program based in primary / lower / middle and senior schools in and around Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire. The program is aimed at giving local schools the opportunity to have fully qualified professional and safe basketball coaching sessions run by Hotshots for both boys and girls. Hotshots basketball club is the perfect way to match the fitness benefits of basketball with the enjoyment that comes from playing one of the most popular sports in the world. Hotshots philosophy is to make every session as much fun as possible with games, shoot-outs and drills to test the skills and the stamina of all our club members in an environment that keeps a smile on their face.
Gymnastics
We have two Gymnastic clubs for KS1 and KS2. They involve the learning of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace, balance and control.
Choir
Our music specialist, Mrs Anderson, leads our choir club after school on a Wednesday. This is open for Years 4-6 and is enjoyed by the many children who attend.
Music Lessons
We offer a variety of group and individual music lessons led by peripatetic teachers throughout the school week. These include string instruments and drum tuition.
Swimming
Children in Years 2 and 3 enjoy visiting Montsaye Community College’s Swimming Pool for regular swimming lessons during school hours. They aim to swim 25 metres and to achieve their White Star Award in swimming.
Spy Club and Lego Club
For pupils looking to develop their deductive or constructive skills, we offer Spy Club on Wednesdays after school for Years R-6 and Lego Club on Mondays after school for Years 3-6.
John Lowther Centre
Year 2 have a fantastic opportunity at John Lowther Centre. The children love eating together, completing a wealth of outdoor challenges and activities and developing their independence.
Frontier Camp
In Year 4, the children get the exciting opportunity to go on residential to Frontier Camp. This is a superb trip over 3 days / 2 nights where the children get the opportunity to take part in multiple team activities along with exciting activities such as abseiling and canoeing.
Longtown
After a year of hard work, the Year 6 children thoroughly enjoy their week-long residential to Longtown in the Brecon Beacons. This trip is a positive step up from Frontier Camp (in Year 4) where the staff and instructors encourage essential life skills such as independence and overcoming fears. This is achieved through well run activities by qualified enthusiastic instructors, such as canoeing, caving, high ropes and many more.
